My name is Ahmed Fakhry, and I’m from Egypt. Graduated back in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Communications and Electronics, from Alexandria University. I worked as a teaching assistant for a single academic year, then I joined the mobile telecommunications industry, when I started working in Etisalat – the biggest mobile phone operator in the middle east – as a radio network planning engineer. I worked there for 4.5 years, in which I learned a lot of skills and added a great value to my department.
I was always fond of programming and computer graphics. During my work at Etisalat, I developed tools to help increase my team’s speed of work, and efficiency. Computer graphics for me was a hobby I enjoyed learning and teaching during my free time. I self-studied it, which was hard, considering the very limited resources I had at the time I started. Now, I hope I could make it easier for anyone who is interested.
My enthusiasm for programming and computer graphics, was much much more than it was for mobile communications, which made me take one of the most important decisions in my life, which was to resign my post as a senior engineer in a big company like Etisalat, and come to the United States to study for a master’s degree in computer game development at DePaul University. After this long journey since 2006, I’m now really quite sure that this is what I want, and I’m enjoying every minute studying for the first time in my life what I truly love. So far, it has been really good, and hopefully, it will remain like that until graduation.
My time is quite limited, but I’ll try as much as I can to write some posts from now and then.
Thanks a lot!
